August Competition recap

DBDC

Sheryl was the gave musical and heartfelt performance at the Best of the Best Showdance competition.

Empire

Rocking the Open Smooth with full movement and crisp timing at the classic New York competition (even though it was in NJ)

DBDC and Empire are always special events. DBDC for the organizer’s amazing hospitality and Empire for great dance energy. At DBDC Sheryl danced with effortless grace. This was the second time she performed her solo to the song Dance With My Father, by Luther Vandross. It is a tribute to her late father and you can tell how much the piece means to her from the detail, care, and determination she put into her dancing.

At Empire, Gretchen took the floor for Open Smooth in what is always one of the most competitive divisions at any competition, but especially in the northeast. She’s been putting effort into detailing timings of the choreography and basic actions for each dance. That’s made for a huge improvement in her speed and dynamics.

Summer can often be a slow time with everyone on vacation, and while the Big Apple team wasn’t that active on the competition floor this summer we’ve all been hard at work in the studio. With Constitution coming up Sheryl will be debuting her Smooth and Gary will be returning to the floor with upgraded routines in several dances. We’re looking forward to sharing our autumn journey with you. New dresses, new styles, and shenanigans…
